Atheists are born every day
What’s up Heathens! Today we are talking with Anti-Ordinary about how she became an atheist and what role religion played in her life. She started out as a Christian in the UK and then explored some other religions. In the end, she came out as an atheist.
Anti-Ordinary started out as a Christian like a lot of atheists do. As she grew up she was exposed to other people and religions. She was also having to deal with feeling different than everyone but not really understanding it. She had a lot of homophobic people in her life so that didn’t help out at all. Every religion she went to, she felt like an outcast because she was trans. She left Christianity and found Islam. She was very interested in it for a little bit but that faded when she was removed from the culture of Islam. It was a gradual switch to Atheism but in general the homophobia of the religions really made her question what they were teaching.
