Math Doesn’t Prove God
What’s up Heathens! Today I am taking on a video that has been already addressed by Rationality Rules but I have a slightly different perspective on the situation. ASAP Science is a good channel but it does fail in spectacular fashion when they try to prove God Exists.
First, They ask the question of whether mathematics can prove God’s existence. They promptly change the question to what is the probability of humans existing if God exists. God can’t be proven to exist or not so instead they infer that God exists by asking a different question. So they proceed to pull numbers out of their asses to justify their reasoning. They don’t bother to explain how they arrived at their numbers. They make the assumption that it is less likely that humans would exist without god existing than with God existing. This is poor science because when you have natural explanations for things you can’t jump to God as an explanation. We KNOW that our universe came into existence without the need for God. While we don’t know what caused existence, there is a very low probability that it was a god that did it.
Finally, They supposed that more gods have a higher probability of creating humans than one god. I guess that means the Hindu’s got it correct because they have a fuck-ton of gods. They go even farther into hard solipsism. ASAP Science says it’s more likely that we are a simulation than a god existing. Solipsism is not a productive position to take. It doesn’t advance our knowledge of the truth at all.
