Bill Donohue: Sex Abuse Victims Are Part Of Homosexual Cover-up
So, Billy Boy Donohue, President of the Catholic League, released an official position on the Cardinal Pell ... If you’re unaware, Cardinal Pell is being charged with sexual assault offenses. Cardinal Pell allegedly sexually abused up to 10 minors between 1978 and 2001, but he has vehemently denied these allegations. But don’t worry Bill Donohue is here to explain the real situation:
The lion’s share of the abuse has been done by homosexuals. In Australia, 78 percent of the complainants were male; the average age at the time of the alleged abuse was 11.6.
One problem there bill -- Pedophilia isn’t primarily committed by homosexuals. This is an absurd claim that fear mongers to his Catholic base. Pedophilia is committed by pedophiles and it’s more often than not about the power over the victim rather than the sexual orientation. The argument that sexual abuse is just homosexuality is a red herring. This argument has no place in the discussion of sexual abuse in the Catholic Church. It is only there to distract people from the actual discussion. The main issue is that Pell has been accused multiple times over many decades of sexual abuse and helping other priests escape sexual abuse allegations.
The Department of Health in Australia has determined that early adolescence begins between 10 and 13. Therefore, the average victim was postpubescent, meaning that homosexuals were the victimizers, not pedophiles.
Again, this argument is completely absurd. Whether a person is a hebephile, someone who is attracted to pubescent children, or a pedophile, someone who is attracted to a pre-pubescent child, this is a sexual attraction to children and not a homosexual attraction. Donohue is ignorant of the psychology of pedophiles, and this is a dangerous notion to present because instead of handling the actual problem he is deflecting the problem so he doesn’t have to deal with it.
Donohue goes on to state:
Just as in the United States, there is no interest in Australia, both inside and outside the Catholic Church, of discussing the role that homosexuals have played in molesting minors.
That’s because homosexuals are not to blame in this situation. Pedophiles and the ongoing protection of said pedophiles by the Catholic Church are the problem.
Donohue continues saying:
In the United States, between 1950 and 2002, 81 percent of the victims were male and 78 percent were postpubescent. Less than 5 percent of the abusers were pedophiles.
He is committing an equivocation fallacy and suggesting that pedophiles are not the problem because the victims were post pubescent. That is pure horseshit and he knows it, but he still goes on to claim:
Frankly, this is a homosexual cover-up.
Ha! What are he talking about? People want to discuss and solve the real issue of child molestation by Catholic priests while the Catholic Church covers it up for hundreds of years and this guy pulls an Alex Jones by saying it’s a homosexual cover-up. That is just pure gold right there.
He goes on to suggest that the examples of pedophile priests are actually examples of homosexuals doing homosexual things.
A 14-year-old boy is postpubescent. Therefore, any male who abused him is a homosexual.
That is not homosexual. That is still pedophilia. You can obfuscate it by calling it a different name but it’s still illegal and not homosexual behavior. Pedophilia or hebephilia is about power over the victim more than it is about the gender of the victim. Donohue doesn’t want to acknowledge this because he knows he is backed into a corner and he cannot get out of it.
