If There Is No God, Murder Isn't Wrong by Prager U
PragerU put out this completely stupid video about Divine Command Theory. The idea that there needs to be a god telling you what you can and can't do because apparently we are all sociopaths that don't know right from wrong... or a hole in the ground from our own asshole. I love how he uses his opinion on morality to say that there is no opinion in morality.
Of course, if there is no god, that doesn't mean murder isn't wrong. That is a ridiculous statement to make. Morality is all relative, though. It's relative to the time period you're in, the culture, the hemisphere... Hell, it's even relative within a culture. Some may say there are objective moral standards like "Murder is wrong" but that just isn't true. We can tell this when we look at a time when a murder wasn't seen as morally wrong. It became morally wrong when it was woven into the basics of modern society.
We know this because we have both modern societies and less than modern societies existing today. In those less than modern societies, we see murder, rape, and other things we consider "objectively morally wrong" as common occurrences that aren't seen as wrong.
To say that there are objective morals in this reality, is to close your mind off to the vast differences across time, space, and cultures.
